Unit Secretary Department: Maternity/Nursery Schedule: Part time with benefits Shift: Day shift Req #: 2667 Hours: 22.5 hrs/wk. Job Details: Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse, coordinates and performs a variety of communication and secretarial functions on the patient care unit. Acts as the receptionist to patients, families, physicians and other hospital personnel. Coordinates communications with the Admitting department regarding outside therapeutic services, patients being transferred or discharged to another facility and physician changes as they occur. Schedules patients for services, coordinating appointments with respective departments. Notes appointment date and time in patient Cardex and communicates information to the nurse in charge. High Graduate diploma required. Computer training classes preferred. 0-5 years experience required. On the job training is provided Good interpersonal, phone and organizational skills required. Must be able to work with detailed, confidential material and to work independently. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access. Familiarity with medical terminology is helpful.
