Title: Technical Writer - Software Location: United States-Massachusetts - Cambridge Vertica is searching for an experienced information developer to develop and deliver technical documentation for the Vertica® Analytic Database. Vertica is a next-generation analytic database that offers extremely high performance and rich functionality at low cost. We're looking for an Information Developer who is enthusiastic, customer-focused, and skilled at creating documentation deliverables that meet the needs of the customer.
Responsibilities · Planning, designing, scheduling, and writing technical documentation for the Vertica Analytics System and 3rd party tools · Driving technical review and implementing feedback. · Addressing documentation bugs and issues on a timely and ongoing basis. · Contributing to defining documentation processes and procedures. · Contributing to the software development process; comfortable with providing feedback and input on specs and designs. · Working with tech support and other user-facing teams to determine and address customer needs. Education: Typically a First Level University degree in Technical Communications, Computer Science or related technical/communications field and a minimum of 4-6 years related experience or an Advanced University degree and 2-4 years experience or equivalent.
· Demonstrated ability to document integration points between a company-developed product and 3rd-party products · Demonstrated ability to document how to use very complex enterprise software products such as RDBMS, File systems, Operating Systems, Web Servers, etc. · Demonstrated ability to work with experts across functions and departments, from Engineering, to Tech Support, to Product Management. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. · Positive, "can-do" attitude; passionate about contributing to Vertica's success. · Proactive and accountable. · Strong customer-advocacy; always willing to do what's right by the customer. · Strives to seek continuous improvements and innovation; always suggests solutions when identifying problems.
