Reporting to the CTO and VP Worldwide Engineering, this individual will be a major contributor to the future success of Red Hat. As the right candidate, you possess a balanced blend of strong Business Intelligence (BI), planning, and strategic thinking skills, along with top-tier aptitude for enterprise technology. Your responsibilities will include collaboration with others in the Engineering, R&D, HR and Product Management organizations.
The Technical Operations Director will join the Westford, MA office working closely with the engineering team leads. This position is responsible for building a world class Technical Operations function including defining mission, staffing, and implementing key processes and capabilities. Your daily work will have a direct impact on our customers and our business.
Primary Responsibilities:
-Be a hands on individual contributor assisting the CTO and the engineering leadership team in *whatever it takes* to support their efforts. -Foster a culture that supports collaboration among the product development functions including engineering, QA, and product marketing. -Understanding global trends for key talent within highly competitive talent pools to address gaps across the engineering organization; including attracting, retaining, and mentoring top talent. -Key role in managing operating and capital budgets to plan. -Actively monitoring and assuring consistent execution against onboarding plans. -Continually evaluate new opportunities for improved operational excellence through expanded business analysis, and through internal technical and operational optimization. -Establish and document R&D policies as needed. -Develop key operational reports, delivering a data-driven organization through robust BI and analytic tools. Assembly and analysis of metrics to assist the engineering leads effectively manage their products: staffing, defects, quality, schedule, roadmaps, customers. -Coalesce, synthesize and report out on R&D status through monthly reports. -Manage communication tools such as email used for engineering group teams, leaders, managers, etc. -Create and utilize the engineering intranet for group dissemination across our efforts. -Active role in establishing onboarding procedures and execution (eg mentor process) for new staff. -Assemble and drive cross-functional teams as needed for key project deliverables.
Job Requirements Required Skills & Experience:
-Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent required. -MBA required -Large scale operations in Enterprise Software or Software-as-a-Service. -10+ years of experience in the Technology industry within product development experience. -Demonstrated experience managing process and quality improvement. -Demonstrated experience managing operating and capital budgets. Must be adept at root cause analysis. -Must have superb communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills. -Must have significant relationship building skills with a history of heavy interaction with the "C" level. -Must have a strong track record of evaluating, analyzing, designing, implementing, leading, and monitoring effective and efficient processes in a product development organization to proactively improve "productization" of new and existing products.
