Role Description:
The Global Portfolio Management Organization is chartered with creating professional service offerings that enable EMC’s Global Solutions Group and partners, to sell and deliver high value professional services solutions to our customers. Global Portfolio Management is aggressively seeking a Solution Development Specialist who can provide technical expertise to create and maintain a professional service offering portfolio for Storage Technology Services solutions.
The Solution Development Specialist is the key resource responsible for creating and maintaining the Storage Technology service offering portfolio that captures best practices, processes and tools to drive service delivery excellence and consistency to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction. In addition, the portfolio enables Global Solutions to achieve overall professional services strategic and revenue objectives for the company.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
· Create package services content including Work Breakdown Structures, Effort Estimators, Test Plans, and other delivery support material for global pre-sales and delivery personnel to utilize in customer engagements.
· Validate and capture tasks and effort to execute service offerings through various validation methods including mining information through research of completed engagements, conversations with subject matter experts, lab exercise, and customer pilots.
· Maintain subject matter expertise in assigned core technical competency, including existing and emerging technologies.
· Work with cross functional organizations and teams, including Engineering, Field, Partners Service Marketing and Education to:
o Gain understanding of service offering strategies and roadmaps within theStorage Technologyspace.
o Plan for training and knowledge transfer events to maintain subject matter expertise inStorage Technologytechnologies including existing and emerging technologies.
o Become attuned to Storage Technologyservices and solutions needs of our customers
o Understand theStorage Technologyindustry and competitive landscape
o Build credibility in your command of the professional services business
o Collaborate in the creation of offering definitions and specifications
· Ensure compliance with meeting schedule commitments and adherence to quality standards in the creation of all service offerings.
· Support field and partner communities through responding to inquires related to the content service offerings within theStorage Technologyportfolio.
· Plan/Participate in services Pilot programs with customers/field personnel
· Shadow field engagements to transfer knowledge and validate new solution


Required Skills:

* Practical, technical experience with storage technology implementations

* Professional services delivery or storage administration experience

· Solid working knowledge of Storage, SAN, NAS and/or CAS related technologies and products, and systems or customer-facing experience in a Professional Services presales, delivery, or project management related function.
· Strong technical expertise with multiple EMC Storage products: Unified Block (SAN), VNX, VMAX, Data Migration, Replication technologies.

* Strong verbal and writing communication skills

* Ability to expand skills and knowledge into new technical areas relevant to customer and market needs

* Proficiency with MS Office, MS Visio, MS Project


Optional Skills:
· Information Lifecycle Management in SAN/NAS/CAS-attached tiered-storage environments
· Exposure to Documentum and EMC content management and data archiving solutions technology (DQL, XML)
· Exposure to industry applications/platforms such as Virtualization, MS Exchange, SQL, Oracle, SAP, etc.
Minimum Education Required: Bachelors in technical discipline or equivalent
Experience required: 8+ years.
