Create unit buys at the sku level that reflect the merchandising assortment strategy to reach sales and inventory plan. Partner with Merchandising for alignment on buys. (Merchandising will identify if the product is all store or warm etc, how long the life of the product will be on the floor, key drivers, and marketed items.)
Ensure key drivers and marketed styles are purchased with enough depth to maximize sales
Ensure new store orders by style are placed according to assortment strategy from merchandising
Partner with distribution analyst to analyze store performance of merchandise and create appropriate clusters for regionalization of the buy
Partner with Merchandising to ensure assortment covers store needs
Partner with planning and allocation at the time of buy to ensure the right quantity is placed for initial purchase and replenishments while reconciling with OTB

Manage all on order and receipt flow weekly / monthly. Partner with planning manager to ensure receipts and invenotry levels meet OTB. Explain changes in on order at OTB meeting.
Partner with the stores to identify assortment needs and communicate to corp merchandising
Analyze current trends to create markdown strategy.
Communicate markdown strategy (define price point to maximize margin) to the stores and partner with merchandising for final approval by style
Partner with merchandising and allocation regarding movement of product between channels and transfers back to warehouse.
Partner with marketing to communicate inventory level changes in marketing styles.
Identify any regional markets with marketing opportunities.
Meeting Participation:
Participate in weekly cross functional meetings to discuss current business and create action plans. Communicate departmental and style performance, forecast and action plans to management and cross functional team on a weekly basis.
Active participant in OTB to articulate department performance, explain on order changes, inventory levels and other action plans to maximize business
Active participant in any meeting which needs a retail business partner representative to communicate current department/style selling and opportunities/risks etc....(ie: business intersects,OTB..)
Attend sales meeting to kick off the buy season
Participate in store visits with cross-functional team
Participate in visual walk thru to ensure the right amount of inventory is purchased on styles that are emphasized in the store (ie:table, windows etc..)
Qualifications
3-5 years experience in retail planning or buying + Bachelors degree
Ability to negotiate with and influence peers, members of a cross-functional team and senior management.
Ability to formally present business strategies and action plans.
Possesses a clear understanding of financial measurements: sales, weeks of supply, inventory turn, sales thru, etc. and how to impact them.
