The Saucony Performance Engineer is responsible for driving innovation by designing, executing and communicating biomechanical and physiological studies and analysis. The position will partner with Saucony Design and Product Development teams to effectively leverage data to enhance the in-line product creation process. The Performance Engineer position will also partner with Marketing and Sales to convert research to commercialized attributes. In addition, the role will also partner with the VP of Human Performance & Innovation Lab on advance product concept projects to elevate the performance of Saucony product. As a part of the Saucony team, the Performance Engineer position will strive to inspire every runner on every run, on every day. At Saucony, we run.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Lead the design and execution of studies to quantify the functional footwear and apparel requirements of target athletic populations and drive innovation for the brand * Develop innovative product concepts that will improve the functional value of the Saucony brand. * Partner with product creation teams to ensure functional requirements are achieved by determining performance goals and establishing and executing appropriate testing programs in alignment with the product creation process * Communicate results of research and testing in a compelling and engaging format appropriate to target audience including R&D, Sales, Marketing, Advertising, and Legal personnel * Present functional product narrative to external audiences including Saucony athletes, key accounts, regional and national publications Requirements:
* M.S. in biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise physiology, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related field. PhD preferred * 5+ yrs experience in research environment, preferably in the product creation arena * Strong knowledge of experimental design, statistical analysis, biomechanical and physiological test methods, and instrumentation * Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment * Proven independent multi-project management skills * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Proven ability to present data in a concise and compelling package * Strong connection to the running community
