Power Electronics Engineer - Sr Principal

Responsibilities - Utilize knowledge of engineering principles and practices to design and enhance products. - Apply magnetic and electronic circuit theory to design and/or cost reduce electronic ballasts is an on-going responsibility. - Some preparation of product documentation and specifications for manufacturing operations and regulatory agencies is necessary. - Perform reliability studies on products and components to assure product quality and life. - May develop controls and/or auxiliary devices used in conjunction with ballasts. - Oversee PCB layout design and troubleshooting to assure the designs function properly and are reliable. - Works in conjunction with Program Manager to develop product planning schedules. - Does testing and qualification plans. - May perform other tasks as required such as failure analysis, and some technician support functions.
Requirements:
Requirements - Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to drive projects to completion. - Very analytical with a firm understanding of power conversion circuits and other analog circuits. - Good working knowledge of Active and Passive Power Factor Correction techniques and topologies preferred. - Able to work effectively with people in a team-oriented environment. - Familiar with various topologies used in ballast design. - Understanding of magnetics design and control loop theory is required. Knowledge of design tools like SPICE simulation desired. - Familiar with EMC / EMI requirements. - Good self-management skills and personal ownership of the development projects.
Educational Requirements: MS +3yrs OR BS + 7yrs (desirable)
