Phlebotomist/Lab Technician Department: Lab: Central Receiving Schedule: Full-Time Regular Shift: Night shift Grade: 4 Hours: mon-fri 11pm-7am Job Details: * Associate's degree is preferred * Certification Required * 1-2 years experience is required * Under general supervision, performs laboratory support functions including but not limited to pediatric and adult phlebotomy, specimen accessioning, specimen processing, and clerical functions. Under general supervision may also perform laboratory testing. May perform laboratory functions related to Purchased Lab Services. Ability to operate technical equipment and analytical systems used to perform work accurately and proficiently, and to maintain patient safety and comfort. Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with peers, physicians, nurses, medical students, fellows, patients, and families. Communicates with patients and their families using age-appropriate terminology and tone of voice. Communicates with external and internal customers with effectiveness, tact, courtesy, and professionalism. Must be able to work accurately and effectively under pressure. Level of knowledge generally obtained through completion of high school with two years of progressively responsible laboratory experience in an accredited clinical laboratory. Experience in phlebotomy is required. Associate's Degree in Medical Technology from an accredited college or university is also acceptable.
