Description:
General Overview

Under direction of the Manager of PET Production Chemistry, provides a variety of services to support the safe and efficient production and use of PET radioactive drugs for research and clinical diagnostic use. Assists PET nuclear pharmacists and radiochemists in all aspects of the day to day operation of the PET radiopharmaceutical production facility operating under cGMP, including radiochemical production area, analytical laboratory and clean room.

Responsibilities

1. Under direction of the nuclear pharmacists will assist in the aseptic preparation of PET radiopharmaceuticals in a cGMP clean room environment.

a. Preparation of sterile filtration assemblies

b. Environmental monitoring of aseptic processes

c. Inoculation of sterility media

2. Assists nuclear pharmacists in maintenance of cGMP clean room and production facility.

3. Assists nuclear pharmacists in the environmental and radiological monitoring of the clean room, production area and quality control lab

4. Assists nuclear pharmacists and radiochemists in the production of PET radiopharmaceuticals:

a. Cleaning of automated radiochemistry synthesis units

b. Maintenance of automated radiochemistry synthesis units

c. Operation of automated radiochemistry synthesis units

5. Assists nuclear pharmacists and radiochemists in quality control of PET radiopharmaceuticals

6. Inventory management and stocking

7. Packaging of radiopharmaceuticals for transport

Requirements

Valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician License

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience in the handling of radioactive materials, aseptic preparation and clean room experience preferred.

Skills/Abilities/Competencies

Understanding of universal precautions and infection control.

Effective interpersonal, writing, and communication skills.

Attention to detail.

Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to work in high-pressure situations.

Must be able to lift 60 lbs.

Experience in the handling of radioactive materials, aseptic preparation and clean room experience preferred.
