Job Description

Our U.S. Financial Services (FS) Practice consists of approximately 2,300 assurance professionals, including 223 partners and 650 managers. It spans industry sectors and functional skill areas, including insurance, investment management, capital markets, banking and real estate. We serve many of the world's largest financial institutions. This means that we have insight into the challenges facing the industry. PwC is the leader is serving large, complex financial services institutions. In the U.S., we audit:

- 18 of the top 50 life insurers, representing 39 percent of admitted assets.
- 19 of the top 50 property and casualty insurers, representing 44 percent of net premiums written.
- 11 of the top 25 reinsurers, representing 47 percent of net premiums written.
- Over 2,900 mutual funds, representing 40% of all mutual funds and 58% of total industry net assets; this includes funds at nine and the advisor and funds at six of the top ten funds families.
- Two of the top three, three of the top 15, and five of the top 20 US-based commercial banks.
- Five of the top 20 mortgage servicers, and four of the top 20 mortgage originators.
- Nine of the top 50 broker-dealers.

The Market Information & Data Analytics group (MIDA) is a centralized group within PwC dedicated to the gathering and distribution of market information that supports all sectors and lines of service. MIDA's team of business analysts and software developers create proprietary applications to meet the needs of these sectors worldwide. MIDA provides technology solutions to complex problems involving the analysis, evaluation and testing of client data. MIDA designs and builds software products and services that support excellence and efficiency in task automation. MIDA has offered a broad range of effective and innovative solutions in areas such as Portfolio Valuation, Security Analysis, Custody Reconciliation and Compliance Services since 1986. In use in over 15 countries, these applications are applied over tens of thousands of times annually.

MIDA offers engagement teams technology based tools and services that automate various aspects of an audit. Automated portfolio valuation and confirmation are among the products and services available to assist engagement teams in the auditing process. MIDA receives market data from eight vendors which cover different asset classes and is used in the portfolio valuation process.

Position/Program Requirements

Knowledge Preferred:
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of, and/or a proven record of success as a key contributor as a developer or architect, with defining, designing, and building functionality to transform audit testing procedures, including the following:
- N-tier development and architectural design, emphasizing a thorough knowledge of SLDC and Microsoft Object-oriented design and utilization of Crystal Reports 10.0 and later versions to accomplish these results;
- Systems requirements development, including designing and prototyping, testing, training, defining support procedures, and implementing practical business solutions under multiple deadlines;
- Attention toward, and/or a proven record of success with, problem-solving, demonstrated by an ability to debug and troubleshoot complex software orchestrations and identify solution options and alternatives;
- Collaboration with senior members of development teams to design and/or enhance existing applications, as well as develop new product functionality; and,
- Resource management, including scoping and estimating project tasks, as well as the coordination and management of offshore resources

Skills Preferred

- Demonstrates thorough abilities and/or a proven record of success with utilizing design and coding skills using the Microsoft .NET framework, including the following:

- A proven record of successful contributions on project management engagements, emphasizing technical acumen with designing and implementing technology for new or existing business applications and utilizing related analytical, organizational and planning project management-oriented abilities;
- A proven record of success preparing and presenting concise, accurate documents and reports with attention to business writing and grammar; and,
- Prioritizing and managing multiple tasks and working in a virtual environment with minimal supervision

- Demonstrates thorough abilities and/or a proven record of success utilizing various technologies that emphasizes UI Patterns and technology; threading concepts and design; and, data access issues involving SQL Server, data modeling and design, programming, and ORM technologies, including the following:

- (SharePoint development +), WPF, Silverlight, JavaScript, JQuery, AJAX
- WCF
- ORM (LINQ to SQL, Entity Framework)
