Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES) seeks a mid level Geologist, Environmental Scientist or Engineer to join our International team in the Westford, Massachusetts office. Our selected candidate will handle case management activities to support the Project Manager with environmental assessment and/or remediation projects located in Martinique and Guadeloupe. Our successful candidate must befluent in Englishand able to speak, read, and write in French (advanced level). Responsibilities and Duties: * Provides support to the Project Manager by handling all case management related duties related to several environmental projects located in Martinique and Guadeloupe. * Communicates with local French consultant staff during implementation of different tasks to insure they comply with contracted scopes and deadlines, and with applicable regulations. * Develops and manages budgets, evaluates budget vs. plan and analyzes cost control efficiencies. * Reviews work plans prepared by the local French consultant to ensure technical accuracy. * Evaluates, analyzes and interprets technical data relative to project-specific goals, reviews and interprets accurate data display graphs and figures, reviews basic fate and transport analysis, and identifies data gaps and data needs, leading to development of a Conceptual Site Model. * Reviews environmental documents and reports written in French, summarizes them, and then translates them into English. * Remotely oversees local French subcontractor fieldwork activities. * Oversees local French subcontractors to ensure all resources are in place for proper fieldwork and reporting execution. * May occasionally travel to Martinique and Guadeloupe to directly supervise complex tasks or to ensure compliance. * Ensures that the local French consultant staff follows GES and Client’s Health, Health & Safety Standards, prepares applicable reports and implements corrective actions.
Skills/Requirements
* Must be fluent in English and French (speak, read, and write). Knowledge of Spanish is a plus. * A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Environmental Science or Engineering. * Must be a detail-oriented, team player with excellent problem solving, communication, and analytical skills * Two to four plus years of related experience. Background must include hands on field and office experience in environmental consulting field. Case management experience in retail petroleum and/or industrial projects preferred. * Must possess excellent communication and technical writing skills. * Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and Adobe Acrobat * OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training certification and/or Engineering in Training (EIT) certification is a plus. * A Background Check and an Alcohol/Drug Screening are required.
