Field Service Engineer
Peak Scientific Inc, a fast–growing company specializing in the manufacture of laboratory gas generators for the life science and biomedical market, is looking to recruit a Field Service Engineer from our Billerica, MA office.
We are an award winning company with our head office based in a modern facility in Scotland, and have a very strong reputation in the market place. We manufacture and maintain gas generators for the laboratory market and export 90% of our sales to approximately 75 countries. We have recently opened a number of overseas offices in the USA, Latin America, India, South Africa, Germany, China and Australia and are planning to set up more in the future.
Reporting to the North American Service Manager, this role will involve extensive (up to 90%) travel.
Key tasks 1. Carry out routine maintenance, emergency repairs, installations and training as well as general support in a professional, prompt and efficient manner to ensure total customer satisfaction. 2. Respond effectively and professionally to all customer requests for service and support (telephone and email). 3. Provide customers with a clear and accurate service report for all work carried out. Submit all service reports at the end of each week or as often as requested by the office. 4. Maintain and replenish van stock of parts and carry out inventory checks as requested. 5. Ensure an effective liaison with other Peak departments (sales, marketing, logistics, engineering and production) to ensure a high level of communication and co-operation for all aspects of customer and product support. 6. Inform service manager of all serious customer complaints and escalations that take in excess of 48 hours to resolve. 7. Take the initiative to continually enhance and develop knowledge and understanding of the complete product range.
Requirements:
Skills required 1. Complete and detailed understanding of pressure systems and transportable gases. 2. Good practical skills and a methodical approach to resolving problems. 3. Ability to work under pressure against tight deadlines. 4. Good communication and interpersonal skills. 5. Able to interface comfortably and effectively both internally and externally with a broad spectrum of personalities. 6. Good understanding of Health and Safety as it impacts the position. 7. Self motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision. 8. Quick to learn new skills.
Experience of maintaining pressure systems and transportable gases in a similar or related industry would be an advantage.
Education Training and qualifications in related areas.
