Director, Valuation Oversight
Title: Director, Valuation Oversight Location: MA-Boston Reporting to the Vice President Valuation Oversight, the Director is responsible for supporting the oversight of the valuation practices employed by the Fidelity Group of Funds. This includes supporting the oversight of pricing practices and monitoring controls within Fidelity Pricing and Cash Management Services, the funds' pricing and bookkeeping agent, preparing and reviewing the exhibits for the FMR Fair Value Committee, and interfacing with investment professionals. In addition, this individual may work directly with industry groups, outside pricing services and vendors and fund auditors. Finally, the Director may participate in other departmental initiatives as determined by the Vice President Valuation Oversight.
Primary Responsibilities
* Daily * Participate in the daily fair value determination process * Monitor key pricing metrics and controls * Back-test fair value determinations * Periodic * Review and coordinate FMR Fair Value Committee presentation materials * Facilitate the monthly FMR Fair Value Committee meetings * Review FMR Fair Value Committee and Board Fair Value Oversight Committee reports * Review ASC Topic 820 level assignments and disclosures * Monitor pricing controls, prepare and analyze management reporting, and provide direction and subject matter expertise for valuation project initiatives * Work with other members of the Treasurer's Office to assess results of financial statement reviews and external and internal audit procedures, and determine the implications for fund valuation * General * Manage several projects at once * Work with others to attain desired business objectives * Assist and participate in other related departmental initiatives as identified by the Funds' Treasury officers Education and Experience * Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting * Minimum 10 years related experience: mutual funds or other investment products / pricing operations experience a plus * CFA a plus Skills and Knowledge * Strong leadership and management skills * Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a changing environment and meet deadlines * Self starter with excellent analytical skills and sound judgment * Strong operations and controls background, including securities markets * Ability to exercise sound judgment, develop practical solutions to business issues and drive projects to completion * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision * Ability to make and effectively communicate decisions * Strong interpersonal skills * Ability to work effectively across the organization * Ability to persuade and influence individuals outside span of control * Strong communication and presentation skills About Fidelity Investments Fidelity Investments is one of the world's largest providers of financial services.
