Director of Financial Aid - MGH Institute of Health ProfessionsDescription: General Overview
The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for managing student financial aid programs including institutional, federal, and private funds. The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for management of all Title IV Federal financial aid programs including, awarding, compliance, audits, policies and procedures, and regulatory issues. Also manages the Assistant Director of Financial Aid, Financial Aid Administrative Assistant graduate assistants to provide exceptional service to Institute applicants, students, and graduates. The Director of Financial Aid works closely with other Institute administrative personnel including MGH Institute Deans, Manager of Student Accounts, Financial Services Director, Program Directors and Associate Directors on issues related to student financial aid programs. Is a key member of the Office of Student Affairs management team and works closely with the Dean Student Affairs on the efficient and timely delivery of student services.
Responsibilities
1. Administer all Title IV Federal Financial Aid of $20+ million including awarding, compliance, audits, policies and procedures, and regulatory issues that govern the program.
2. Coordinate need analysis, eligibility and awarding for prospective and current students.
3. Counsel Institute applicants and students on sources of student financial aid including federal, private and institutional funds by offering individual and group sessions/presentations.
4. Oversee the awarding and delivery of private educational loans offered by federal government and private lenders.
5. Oversee financial aid systems modifications and upgrade federal systems when required.
6. Work closely with Price, Waterhouse and Coopers auditors annually to ensure compliance is upheld as dictated by the DOE, Partners Healthcare, MGH, and MGH Institute.
7. Train and cross-train appropriate Institute staff on financial aid programs, regulations and changes in policies and procedures.
8. Calculate amount of student financial aid refunds and the return of Title IV funds.
9. Develop yearly budget for institutional funds and work with Program Directors, Budget and Financial Analyst and Chief Financial Officer on awarding and monitoring of expenditures.
10. Prepare reports on financial aid funds such as the Federal FISAP, E-APP, IPEDS, etc.
11. Monitor student enrollment status and changes such as withdrawals and less than half-time. Coordinate issues with the Registrar and the Student Accounts Manager, focusing on compliance issues.
12. Monitor student satisfactory academic progress with the Registrar.
13. Advise, manage and coordinate all financial aid issues with the Program Directors and MGH Institute Deans.
14. Provide debt management information and counseling, including entrance and exit counseling sessions.
15. Provide policy updates and financial aid statistical reports to Dean, Provost, President and present to Board Members as requested.
16. Function as liaison to the U.S. Department of Education and Federal Student Loan and private education loan lenders.

17. Organize scholarship and grant policies, procedures and processes with MGH Institute Deans, Program Directors, Director of Admissions, Registrar and other student affairs areas.
18. Direct the production and dissemination of student financial aid consumer information.
19. Develop and enhance web-based functionality including general information as well as student specific data (financial aid awards, debt management, etc).
20. Work closely with the Student Accounts Manager on issues related to payment plans, holds, withdrawals and refunds.
