Director of Equity and High Income Fund Oversight

Title: Director of Equity and High Income Fund Oversight
Location: MA-Boston
The Director of Equity and High Income Fund Oversight is responsible for supporting the key oversight activities in support of the Equity and High Income Fidelity Funds in the FMRCo. Treasurer's Office and will report directly to the Vice President of Fund Oversight. The Director will work closely with the Vice President and Deputy Treasurer to provide independent fiduciary oversight of the funds' business activities. In addition to strong technical expertise, the Director will have strong leadership and communication skills in order to navigate the organization effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues in Asset Management, FPCMS, Legal, Corporate Accounting and Finance.


Primary Responsibilities
* Oversight of the funds' accounting policies. Includes monitoring and review of those policies, complex securities' transactions and technical accounting issues to ensure adherence to regulatory, GAAP and/or internal requirements.
* Ensure appropriate procedures and controls are in place to effectively monitor operational, financial and reputational risks.
* Oversight of funds' investment advisers to ensure business activities are in the best interests of shareholders.
* Monitor investment strategy changes and operational initiatives, including those related to the oversight of foreign currency trading and securities lending.
* Work directly with investment professionals in FMRCo., as well as representatives from FPCMS fund accounting, tax, custody and fund reporting to resolve a broad range of issues identified in the daily operations of the fund.
* Participation in strategic and departmental planning process and initiatives as determined by the Funds' Treasurers and Deputy Treasurers, as well as planning coordination with business partners.
* Oversight and issue resolution related to the FMR Equity and High Income Funds including support of the fund certification process, developing and reviewing fund policies and controls, periodically reviewing the funds' books and records and key oversight metrics for anomalies, and participating in various ad hoc initiatives related to the funds as they arise.

Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting preferable
* Minimum 10 years industry or equivalent experience
* CPA or investment professional certification a plus
* Securities lending or foreign currency background a plus
Skills and Knowledge
* A deep knowledge of the mutual fund business and an advanced knowledge of investment types and products.
* Ability to apply technical understanding to real world business events/transactions.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Advanced organization and program management skills consistent with the key responsibilities of this role.
* Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills consistent with bringing matters to closure in an effective and timely manner.
* Flexibility when solving and making decisions taking into account a broad range of internal and external factors; understanding and working effectively with executive management; adjusts actions and decisions for focus on critical issues; accepts accountability for impact of decisions made.
* Ability to diplomatically and firmly manage multiple and sometimes conflicting points of view when developing fund policies.
* Knowledge of SEC and US GAAP accounting and disclosure requirements, as well as an understanding of critical international standards and their application to fund product structures.
* Ability to Identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders; gain the cooperation of peers and customers, persuade others; mobilize people to take action.
* Ability to prioritize multiple tasks/initiatives and work under pressure.
* Ability to work with peers and business partners across multiple locations.
