Position Summary
The Category Manager position is responsible for managing the wide format growth initiative and ship categories in the business services division. The director of category management will offer direction and guidance in developing and executing the strategy for rapid category growth in revenue and profit, competitive differentiation and customer satisfaction.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop the strategy and business plan for the wide format and UPS categories to achieve/exceed budgeted goals in sales and margin
Drive execution of strategic plan in conjunction with the business services organization
Category subject matter expert in the category detail, production and execution
Develop innovative opportunities to increase revenue, reduce costs and maximize results
Develop and execute written strategies and plans taking into account cross functional implications. Ensure business plan alignment with field structure and overall business strategy to maximize top and bottom line results
Negotiate with vendors to determine most effective plans for reaching established goals. Determine level of involvement and resource allocation from vendors to ensure profit and sales goals are met or exceeded
Partner effectively with appropriate resources in field, home office and vendors as needed to achieve category goals
Review and interpret financial implication of proposed category initiatives including costs, capital investment and financial levers
Exhibit leadership in proactively communicating and determining course of action to accomplish the growth initiatives from inception to flawless roll out
Facilitate training to support the categories for in store production and associate knowledge
Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization including the field
Qualifications
Basic:
Bachelor's Degree required
Minimum 2 years experience in innovative, category management with proven track record in driving category sales and profit
Preferred:
4 years of experience in innovative, category management with proven track record in driving category sales and profit
Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication skills
Broad retail experience, preferably in copy and print
Project management experience
Robust analytical skills, capable of forecasting, trend analysis
Proficient in Microsoft excel, Microsoft word, Microsoft access, PowerPoint and Microsoft project
