Through ongoing review of appraisals, evaluations and environmental reports performed by independent third party review firms, the incumbent; * Manages external review of reports through third party vendors * Ensures compliance to applicable regulations and mitigates potential losses due to environmental or valuation errors. * Determines the quality and content appropriateness of appraisals and environmental findings. * Determines if appraisal value is sufficient to meet underwriting requirements. * Responsible for the selection of the appropriate appraisal/environmental firm for each assignment based on applicable qualifications, experience, education, and underwriting requirements of specific loans.
Considerations include * Appropriate report format/scope of report/property rights to be appraised on each assignment. * Property type, exposure as well as property specific and/ or loan specific requirements. * Bid requests including the preparation and delivery of bid requests to external vendors
Required Skills
This position requires an individual with 4+ years of appraisal training and/or experience, plus a working knowledge of the Commercial Real Estate Lending procedures and environmental regulations. Required Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent required Appraisal Courses- Various appraisal courses as well as appraisal review courses are required and/or will be required upon employment. Courses include both basic appraisal principals and commercial (Income/Capitalization techniques) along with review courses designed primarily to perform desktop reviews of completed appraisal reports. Lending- The ideal candidate will have commercial real estate lending experience along with pior lending coursework. Exposure to Commercial Real Estate lending and a banking environment will enhance the ability of the individual to work within and contribute to the credit function. Job Location Boston, MA, US.
